Edinburgh more expensive than London for staycations

Edinburgh has topped London for cost in the latest survey of tourist destinations across the UK.

The Scottish capital was second only to Oxford for average double room price – and ahead of other major cities including Glasgow, Birmingham, Liverpool, Newcastle and Manchester.

The statistics found that an average room in Edinburgh will set you back £214.95 – as opposed to £191.51 in London.

And for the full holiday experience of hotel, breakfast, pint of beer and glass of wine, visitors to Edinburgh can expect to pay £236.91 – £20 more than in London.

Online discount site launched the Full English Index to help consumers decide which of the UK’s most popular tourist destinations provides the most value for money.

Glasgow is one of the cheapest staycation destinations where an average room, pint and glass of wine price of £141.39. …
