Edinburgh hotels second only to London for room yield

Scottish hotel sector outpaced regional UK in both occupancy and yield in July new report suggests. Scottish hotels outpaced regional UK in occupancy and revenue rate performance in July new figures suggest, with Edinburgh room yields second only to central London.

The monthly figures, which exclude central London, suggest room yields across Scottish hotels – the industry measure of turnover – rose by 16.8 in July, far outstripping the 4.9 per cent rise across regional UK, according the report from accountants BDO.

On a regional basis, Scotland was also well ahead, in room yield terms, of regional English hotels, which recorded yield growth of 2.4 per cent and Wales at 0.2 per cent yield growth.

Occupancy rates across Scottish hotels rose by 7.3 per cent compared with a rise of 6.9 per cent for regional UK, with occupancy on a regional basis up 6.8 per cent and up 8.1 per cent in Wales.
